It's Spring Already?
I am finally motivated to take the photos off the camera after an active winter. Winter walks, staying up past our bedtimes, and eating is great fun!
Cherries (and Khai) jubilating after Christmas dinner with the Smallwoods (and the other Smallwoods). We started the epic eating with cheese fondue. After Wanda's amazingly delicious crab salad appetizers and the corn chowder, I had to wait an hour to eat the roasted brussel sprouts and beautiful cornish hens Travis stuffed with wild rice. Who would have room for cherries jubilee, homemade pistachio ice cream, AND Amish red velvet cake from the Reading Terminal Market?
Grabbing a lovely espresso and people-watching while Sunday-working at my favorite La Colombe (by City Hall).
Challah school at Sue and Bob's! How gorgeous are these!!

Countless Sunday night dinners - app tray by Sara on the night I discovered my love for manzanilla olives. Me, on another night, stuffing cabbages with ground pork, binding with chives, and hoping they're as good as my mom's.
Happy New Year! With the Gilfreeds! So much food, and too many picklebacks. One is too many.
Talula's Table in Kennett Square: Long story short, I read about this restaurant in 2009 in Bon Appetit Magazine. It was touted as the "toughest reservation in the country" (which translated as a challenge to me to get a table, of course). True to the reported one-year waiting list (only one seating per night at the restaurant's single table), I called on May 29, 2010 and got the reservation for May 29, 2011. My cousin decided to get married on May 29, 2011 (hooray!), so I got put on the short list to be notified of cancellations. After several attempts to reconcile my calendar with Talula's, I finalized a reservation in January 2012 for a party of nine.
Click on the photo of the menu for a closer look, but we were spoiled with tasty abuse bouche, h'or d'oeuvres, and seven courses. The service was phenomenal and well-informed, the food was delightful, and the atmosphere was intimate and celebratory (literally, one long wooden farm table in a deli-by-day, just for our party). We only got through six of the ten bottle of wine, but maybe that's a good thing.
A little arts 'n crafts in between courses... Me, learning how to cut glass for mosaics in Kelsey's studio; Khai, proud creator of world's most delicious gingerbread house; a skyline piece we picked up (David Ohlerking); cool street art Alex snapped while we were walking to meet Skalski and Nancy for lunch (Fairmount area). Discovered this artsy Japanese import shop: Morihata.

And now... back to work!

Alex got older. We commemorated this with one entire week of eating (shocker). Nice cake (by Dyanna's cousin, Belen).
And now... back to work!
